Cold

On the edge

of another night

restlessness served

under duress

I hear her voice

echo

in my heart

where warmth

translates hope

I feel her in my arms

clinging to this moment

praying it will stretch

into forever

so I will never

have to know

the crushing cold

of her absence

again

I have a lump in my throat. I know this feeling.
