I just wanted to take a moment to share why I have been absent from WordPress in the last few months and haven’t been able to keep up with reading all of your posts.

My brother has terminal brain cancer. He recently moved back into our childhood home with our parents (who are also both quite ill and frail). In the last few weeks, his health has declined rapidly. He believes this is just a bump in the road and that he will improve. I hope he is right, but hope and truth are difficult to distinguish.

There are no words to describe what it’s like to go over to their house to help and visit with my brother. This is the house we grew up in. This is the house we were physically and emotionally abused in. This is the house he and our parents will die in. I don’t know why he wanted to go there to die, but he does… it’s his choice.

I am overwhelmed emotionally and physically and have a relentless headache, but despite all that is going on, I am doing okay. I think I am on autopilot for the time being and plan to get back to writing and reading again. Thank you for your patience.

  1. I’m so sad to read this. I can see why you’re emotionally & physically wrung-out yourself with everything going on. Don’t worry about the blog, we’ll all be here whenever you’re ready. Please take time to look after your own needs at this time too. Sending love and best wishes to you and your brother  ♥
