Creature Comfort

Outline of ferns imprinted on my skin

Light perforates dazzling and deep

Decorating hues of standing dew

Secrets whisper on breezes and branches

Gently remind me of an existence I once knew

A bed of moss

Softens the loss

Heavenly crew

Myths and taboo

Dig into the truth

It’s best not to know

Your life was a ruse

Battle fatigue

Stand against common sense

Fiends hiding near the fence

Camouflaged as crowds

Illusions of freedom

Leave the trees standing

Close to the road

Deception of depth

Dappled with death

Empty dais and dried earth

Battle for rebirth

Creatures craving comfort

Scared and confused

Searching for shelter

Before erosion sets in

Take me with you
